Hi, my name is Amanda, and I am fifteen years old, in tenth grade. I have lived in New Jersey for my entire life and however boring my life is, I am quite thankful for the tranquility I have been blessed with. I love reading, playing sports, being my friends’ psychologist, and sleeping until noon. Two words people have used to describe me are “happy” and “sensible,” and I think of myself that way as well. I do not let things upset me, nor do I make impulsive and rash decisions; however, my level-headedness doesn’t mean I am not outgoing or fun. I just like to think things through before acting on my every thought.
I constantly have music playing in my head; the pause button is broken, and the music never stops. I like rock, good pop and the sounds of the seventies, eighties and nineties. My book shelf also is “stuck on play” in the sense that the number of books that I read keeps growing. I play volleyball and enjoy playing sports. I enjoy traveling to new places, whether the place is a neighboring state or a foreign country. I think positively, and I dislike when people look on the dark side of something, because I tend to see the bright side. I have a small family, so we cherish each other’s company very much.
My favorite quote comes from Charlie Chaplin, an actor and film writer: “A day without laughter is a day wasted.” I believe that a balanced life is the key to happiness; in order to remain sane, I make sure to work down time into a busy schedule and to do fun things that keep life interesting.
Reading some of the Neveh Channa bio posts, I learned that many of the girls are involved in Bnei Akiva, and I would like to say that I am going on a Bnei Akiva program this summer, Mach Hach. It will be my first time traveling to Israel, and I absolutely cannot wait!
A smile can brighten someone’s day, and a hug can make someone’s troubles disappear if only for a moment. Kindness will make the world a better place, and it is our place as human beings and as Jews to try to make the world the best place it can be.
